Coal Miners' Statue

Prodesign Plus, P.C.  -  Memorials

In July of 1997, the Minersville Rotary retained Prodesign Plus, P.C. to complete the design for the Coal Miners' Statue located at the intersection of State Route 209 and 901 in Minersville. The Coal Miners' Statue was the dream of Joseph T. Walacavage to erect a monument as a tribute to Schuylkill County's anthracite coal miners. The miner is a 9 1/2 foot tall bronzed statue with a pick ax in one hand and a lantern held high in the other. The Coal Miners' Statue includes an anthracite base for the statue, brick pavers, patterned concrete walkway, benches and lighted bollards. Additionally, the project included lighted flagpoles, a wall for plaques and site landscaping.  Our firm provided a final site grading/master plan for all site development work along with the required erosion and sediment control plan. A site layout plan, landscape plan, and site construction details were prepared for the construction work.
